Palm-fringed beaches, fresh seafood and warm turquoise water: the south coast is Sri Lanka at its most relaxed. This seven-day itinerary balances beach days with easy sightseeing, from a river safari in Bentota to the historic streets of Galle Fort and the surf and sunsets of Mirissa.
Meet your driver and travel south along the coast (about 2 hours). Settle in and enjoy your first sunset on the beach.
Overnight: Bentota
Take a morning boat trip along the Bentota River through mangroves, then spend the afternoon on the beach or try a water sport.

Explore Galle Fort’s ramparts, lighthouse and cafés, stop at Koggala for the stilt fishermen, and arrive in Mirissa for sunset on the sand.

From November to April, join an early-morning whale-watching boat trip (please choose a responsible operator; we can arrange one). Afternoon at Coconut Tree Hill or a surf lesson in nearby Weligama.
Overnight: Mirissa
Drive east along the coast, stopping at the Hummanaya blowhole and quiet bays. Settle into a beachfront hotel near Tangalle.
Overnight: Tangalle
A day to relax: swim, snorkel, read or add optional tours such as a Yala or Udawalawe safari or a lagoon boat trip.

Transfer to Colombo Airport via the Southern Expressway (about 3.5–4 hours).
