Day-by-day itinerary

  1. Day1

    Airport to Sigiriya

    Meet your driver at the airport and travel to the Sigiriya area (about 4–5 hours) with a comfort stop on the way. Check in and unwind.

  2. Day2

    Sigiriya Rock Fortress

    Climb the “Lion Rock” early in the morning for the best light and the coolest temperatures. In the afternoon, visit a traditional village for a bullock-cart ride and a home-cooked Sri Lankan lunch.

  3. Day3

    Polonnaruwa & elephant safari

    Explore the ancient city of Polonnaruwa by bicycle or vehicle: the Gal Vihara Buddhas, Royal Palace and Quadrangle. Late afternoon, join a jeep safari where herds of wild elephants gather (July to October is the peak season).

    Overnight: Sigiriya

  4. Day4

    Dambulla & Matale to Kandy

    Visit the Dambulla Cave Temple, a UNESCO site with over 150 statues of the Buddha, then a spice garden in Matale before continuing to Kandy.

  5. Day5

    Kandy at leisure

    See the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, stroll around Kandy Lake, browse the gem and craft shops and watch a Kandyan cultural show in the evening.

  6. Day6

    Departure

    Transfer to Bandaranaike International Airport (about 3.5 hours). We will time your departure to suit your flight.
