Tea estates, waterfalls and the famous blue train
Slow down in Sri Lanka’s cool, green highlands. This tour is built around misty mornings, tea-plantation walks, the World’s End cliff at Horton Plains and one of the most photogenic train rides on the planet. It is the perfect escape if you love landscapes and fresh mountain air.
Meet your driver at the airport and drive to Kandy (about 3.5 hours). In the evening, visit the Temple of the Tooth Relic for the ceremonial offering.
Overnight: Kandy
Drive up through Ramboda Falls and rolling tea country. Tour a tea factory, taste fresh Ceylon tea and take an evening walk around Gregory Lake.
Overnight: Nuwara Eliya
Leave early for Horton Plains National Park (about 1.5 hours) to hike the loop trail to World’s End and Baker’s Falls while the skies are clear. Afternoon at leisure in Nuwara Eliya.
Overnight: Nuwara Eliya
Ride the hill-country train from Nanu Oya to Ella, passing tea slopes, tunnels and waterfalls. Your driver meets you at Ella with your luggage. Visit Little Adam’s Peak for sunset.
Overnight: Ella
Walk across the Nine Arch Bridge, visit Ravana Falls and try a village cooking class or a hike up Ella Rock. Enjoy the relaxed café scene.
Overnight: Ella
Take the scenic road and expressway to Colombo Airport (about 6–7 hours). We recommend an evening or late-night flight, or you can extend to the south coast.
Itineraries are a guide and can be reordered, shortened or extended. Driving times are approximate and depend on traffic and weather.
